If you are the owner of a Backpack account, you can set permissions for teachers and students in your account. These permissions include the default padlet privacy for new padlets, whether students can create padlets, and whether teachers can access the user management page.
If you are the owner/administrator of your Backpack account, you can access your Backpack permissions from your settings. Start by logging into your Backpack account ending in padlet.org, then go to ... > Settings > Permissions.
From here, you can toggle between the student and teacher tabs to set permissions for each role.
In the student permissions page, there are two categories. Under Padlets, you can choose whether students can create padlets. If you want students to create padlets, you can choose which privacy settings they can use for their padlets. You can also select the default privacy setting and visitor permissions for their padlets.
Under Community, you can decide whether students will have access to the Gallery from their dashboard.
In the teacher permissions page, there are two categories. Under Padlets, you can choose whether teachers can create padlets. If you want teachers to create padlets, you can choose which privacy settings they can use for their padlets. You can also select the default privacy setting and visitor permissions for their padlets.
Under Members, you can manage whether teachers can add new teachers and students to your Backpack account. You can also decide if teachers can edit existing members. If you turn off both features, teachers will still have access to the user management page, but they will not be able to add or edit members.
Available privacy options and defaults
If you allow teachers or students to create padlets in your Backpack account, you can choose which privacy options they can use for their padlets. Learn more about Backpack privacy settings.
Once you have selected the available privacy options, go to the Defaults and click the dropdown menu to adjust the default privacy setting. This means that new padlets created by that user type will default to your chosen privacy setting. Users will still be able to adjust the privacy of their padlets depending on the privacy options available to them, but new padlets will be set to your default.
In addition to setting the default privacy setting for new padlets, you can set the default visitor permissions for new padlets. The options are can read and can write. Read means that new padlets will be default to read-only. Write means that new padlets will default to allow visitors to write on them.
