Padlet has an MCP server! Our MCP server allows you to create padlets, post comments and reactions, retrieve contents of a padlet, and more.
What is an MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect securely to outside apps and act on your behalf. Connecting Padlet's MCP server to an MCP-compatible assistant (such as Claude) lets you work with your padlets using plain language.
For example, you could do "create a board for our project kickoff and add five starter posts".
- The assistant can only do what your Padlet account already allows
- It respects your existing permissions
- You stay in control: You log in and authorize the connection, and you can disconnect at any time
What can it do?
Once connected, your assistant can work with almost everything you can do in Padlet yourself. Depending on your plan and your role, some of these may not be available to you.
Padlets
- Create a new padlet, remake an existing one, or find padlets you already have
- Read the contents of a padlet, including posts, comments, and sections
- Change a padlet's title, description, layout, wallpaper, icon, and other appearance settings
- Update who can view, post, and edit, and other privacy settings
- Freeze a padlet to make it read-only, and restore deleted posts and sections
Posts and comments
- Add, edit, pin, and connect posts, including posts with attachments
- Add comments and reactions, or ask the assistant to summarize what has been posted
- Set up automations, submission forms, and breakout links
Classrooms
- Review a student's posts and comments across your padlets
- Grade posts and sync grades to your LMS
Padlet for Schools and Teams (admins only)
- Invite members by email, in bulk, or with invite links
- Manage member permissions, approved domains, content safety settings, and allowed attachment types
- Set up single sign-on (SAML) and OAuth logins for your organization
Set-up Guide
- Make sure you're logged in to your Padlet account
- Open your MCP-compatible client (for example, Claude) and go to its connectors / integrations settings
- Add a new connector and enter the Padlet MCP server URL:
https://mcp.padlet.com - When prompted, click to authorize. You'll be redirected to Padlet to log in and approve access
- After approving, you'll be returned to your client and Padlet MCP is ready to be used! Ask your assistant to create a padlet, add a post, or search your boards
- You may occasionally be asked to authorize again. Just click through the same approval steps
Disconnecting Padlet MCP
To remove the connection, go to your assistant's connectors / integrations settings and remove or disconnect Padlet. Your padlets and posts are not affected, and you can reconnect any time by following the set-up steps above.

You can also connect by clicking the three-dot ellipsis button (...) on the side of your padlet to open the Additional Options panel >> click Developer >> under 'Resources,' click Connect on Padlet Discord.
FAQs
Do I need a paid plan to use Padlet MCP?
No. Padlet MCP works with every Padlet account, including free ones. The usual limits of your plan still apply, so on a free plan the assistant can only create as many padlets as you could yourself. Some features, like grading or managing school members, only appear if your plan and role include them.
Does it work with Sandbox?
Not fully yet. Padlet MCP was built for padlets first, and Sandbox support is still a work in progress. Your assistant can find and open your sandboxes, but some things you can do on a sandbox may not be available through the assistant, or may not work the way you expect. We are working on it. In the meantime, the assistant works best with padlets.
Can the assistant see or change something I don't have access to?
No. The assistant signs in as you and has exactly the same access you do, nothing more. If you can't open or edit a padlet, neither can your assistant. The reverse is also true: if you are an admin, the assistant can do admin things, so take care with what you ask it to do.
My assistant says it can't find my padlet. What's wrong?
The most common cause is that you authorized the connection while logged in to a different Padlet account, for example a personal account instead of your school one. Disconnect Padlet in your assistant's connector settings, log in to Padlet with the account that owns the padlet, then connect again. If the padlet belongs to someone else, make sure you have been given access to it in Padlet first.
Is this the same as the Padlet API?
No. The Public API is for developers writing their own code, and uses an API key from the Developer page in your Settings. Padlet MCP is for AI assistants, and you authorize it by logging in to Padlet rather than by copying a key. You can use both at the same time.

The technical details for connecting an agent to Padlet MCP, including how to register a client and authorize a user, are at padlet.com/auth.md.
