Clever rostering

Enabling Clever rostering will make adding and managing students in your Padlet for Schools account so much easier!

What is Clever rostering?

When Clever rostering is enabled, adding and removing users within the Manage People/Members dashboard on Padlet will be disabled. All user management will instead happen within the Clever dashboard.

Rostering will automatically clean up and remove users from your members list if they leave the district. With rostering, users will also receive a single initial email to let them know that they have been added to Padlet when rostering is enabled.

Setting up Clever rostering

Clever integration is only available for Padlet for Schools accounts.

To set up Clever rostering, follow these steps:

  1. In Clever, add both the Padlet app and the Padlet rostering app. Then, share user data by following the instructions found here.
  2. Reach out to one of our team members using our contact form to request rostering be enabled for your account.
  3. Once Clever rostering is enabled, all users that you sync will receive a single email notification from Padlet informing them that they have been added to the application.
Important note: When rostering is turned ON, admins can no longer use the Manage people/Members page to modify users. User management will now take place on the external rostering system.

🌟Initial syncing of users from the roster to the account will take place when rostering is turned ON. It will be updated once a day after that.🌟

FAQs

Will user records automatically merge with current accounts when enabling rostering?
As long as the emails in your rostering system match the emails currently being used within Padlet, the accounts will sync and users will be able to continue using Padlet as they have been.
Will all created content be retained if user accounts are merged?
Yes - as long as the emails are the same. If the emails are different, please reach out to us!
If current Padlet accounts do not match what's in our rostering system, what will happen to the content within their accounts?
If a user's email is not included in your rostering system, their account will be deactivated and their padlets will move into a suspended state. These padlets won't be deleted and will remain suspended until the user is reactivated. If the user is added back to your rostering system, their account and padlets will be fully restored.
What is the difference between SSO and rostering?
How they are the same:

Both options create the correct role for teachers and students when they sign in. As new teachers or students are added, they will immediately have access to Padlet through Clever.

How they are different:

SSO: Manage users within the Manage people/Members dashboard (in case you need to add anyone that is not on the Clever roster).

Rostering: Manage users within the Clever dashboard. The Manage people/Members dashboard in Padlet will be disabled. Rostering will automatically clean up and remove users from your members list if they leave the district.
