Accessibility menu

Digital tools can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for users with certain disabilities. We understand and want to make your experience the best it can be. Here at Padlet, we are committed to providing an accessible experience for everyone!

Accessibility settings

Navigate to your account's accessibility menu by clicking on your account name/avatar in the upper-right corner of your dashboard > Settings > Accessibility.

From here, you can choose the options that work best for you!

  • Keyboard shortcuts - Toggling this button ON enables single-key shortcuts for certain padlet actions. Read more about the different shortcuts we offer here!
  • Automatically dismiss app messages - If this toggle is ON, confirmation and warning messages disappear automatically after a short delay. Having this toggle OFF will require you to click on the messages to dismiss them manually.
  • High contrast mode - Adjust the contrast for better readability of text and buttons. By default, this is based on the system preferences on your device. Click the drop-down menu to change this.
  • Reduced motion - Reduce the motion for animations and transitions. By default, this is based on the system preferences on your device. Click the drop-down menu to turn this OFF and display everything normally or turn it ON to reduce motion and lessen visual stimulation.
With 'Reduced motion' turned ON, GIFs will not be played automatically.

Guests vs. registered users

You can still use accessibility features as a guest user. While you won't have access to account-level settings within the accessibility menu, you can still adjust page-level accessibility settings on individual boards. This includes such features as enabling high contrast mode or reducing motion. These settings will apply consistently across your session but will not be saved once you leave Padlet or refresh the page.

To access these features, go to padlet.com > scroll to the bottom of the page and click the icon that looks like a person (Accessibility settings) > adjust your settings accordingly.
