Changes to privacy settings (October 2025)
On October 23, 2025 we made some changes to privacy options for boards and sandboxes in Padlet. These changes give greater control over who can access your padlets while being more intuitive to use.
Previous privacy options
The old privacy options had a single list of options:
- Private
- School wide - Hidden
- School wide - Dashboard
- Secret / Secret - Password / Secret - Log in / Secret - All visitors
- Public
New privacy options
The new privacy options are simple toggles that can be turned ON and OFF to control who can access your padlets.
Migrating old to new
To ensure a seamless change from the old system to the new, we've mapped the old options to the new toggles to ensure there are no changes to who can access your padlets. How we mapped old to new is shown below. You can read more about in our privacy and permissions settings article.
