An Instructor becomes a Teacher; a Student stays a Student. This happens every time a user launches Padlet from Blackboard Ultra.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch3>How it works\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>Two separate mechanisms are involved:\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Launch token\u003C\u002Fstrong> \u003Cem>(always on)\u003C\u002Fem> — When someone opens a padlet from inside Blackboard Ultra, the launch itself tells Padlet what role that person has, and Padlet sets their Padlet role from it. This happens on every launch and there is no setting that turns it off.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Names and Role Provisioning Services (NRPS)\u003C\u002Fstrong> \u003Cem>(optional — the settings below)\u003C\u002Fem> — A separate service that lets Padlet ask Blackboard Ultra for your full class list, so students appear in Padlet before they've ever clicked a Padlet link. It does not control login permissions or role assignment.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cdiv class=\"note-callout\">Turning NRPS off stops the class list lookup. If a Student becomes an Instructor in Blackboard Ultra, they'll be promoted to Teacher in Padlet. Disabling NRPS only stops the class list lookup.\u003C\u002Fdiv>\u003C\u002Fdetails>\u003Cdetails>\u003Csummary>Why is a user getting the "maximum teachers" error?\u003C\u002Fsummary>\u003Cdiv>Blackboard Ultra is trying to upgrade that user to a Teacher or Admin in Padlet, but your plan is already at its maximum number of teachers and admins, so the user can't access Padlet. One of these changes will fix it:\u003Cbr\u002F>\u003Cbr\u002F>1. Use custom role mapping to map that role to Student\u003Cbr\u002F>2. Increase your plan's teacher cap\u003Cbr\u002F>3. Manually change their Padlet role — keeping in mind it will revert on the next launch\u003C\u002Fdiv>\u003C\u002Fdetails>\u003Cdetails>\u003Csummary>A user's Blackboard Ultra role changed, but their Padlet role didn't.
