Padlet has a free desktop app for Mac. It runs on its own, outside your browser, so you can keep a padlet open in its own window and get to your boards in fewer steps. It's built with schools in mind: IT teams can install it on every Mac in the building without anyone downloading it by hand.

Download the app

  1. Open the Mac App Store on your Mac.
  2. Search for Padlet and click Get.
Requires macOS 13.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later.

Once it's installed, open Padlet from your Applications folder or search for it with Spotlight.

  1. Log in with the same account you use on padlet.com.

Install it on your school's Macs

Because the app is on the Mac App Store, your school's IT admin can get it through Apple School Manager and roll it out to every Mac with Jamf or another MDM (mobile device management) tool. Students and teachers then find Padlet already waiting in Applications, with nothing to download on the day of the lesson.

Not sure who manages your school's Macs? Ask your IT team. They'll be the ones with access to Apple School Manager and your MDM.

What's in the app

The desktop app has the same features as Padlet on the web, except Arcade. To use Arcade, open padlet.com in your browser.

FAQs

Do I need the app to use Padlet on my Mac?
No. Padlet works in any supported browser, and the app is optional. Use whichever you prefer. Your padlets are the same in both.
Does the app cost anything?
No, the app is free to download. Your Padlet account and plan work the same way they do on the web.
Is this the same app as the one on my iPhone or iPad?
It's the same Padlet listing on the App Store, so you'll find it by searching for Padlet on any Apple device. For phones and tablets, see Padlet apps.
